A new national database of proven insurance fraudsters is due to be set up in the UK. The Insurance Fraud Register (IFR) will be accessible to all insurers across all product lines and is hoped to ‘deliver a serious blow to insurance cheats’ according to the Managing Director of the software firm involved.

David Cameron backs new car insurance rules to cut cost of premiums

The prime minister is to agree to introduce new rules to cut the £2bn cost of whiplash insurance claims in the motor industry, saying Britain had become the whiplash capital of Europe which is inflating premiums by £90 on average.

Billed as an insurance summit and convened on the day the latest inflation figures are published, David Cameron is eager to show he is doing everything possible to protect living standards.

More than 1,500 whiplash claims are being lodged every day and ministers say it is time to harness improved medical evidence, technological breakthroughs, as well as raising the threshold for claims.

BFI Finance issues Rp 225b bonds

JAKARTA: Publicly listed consumer financing firm PT BFI Finance Indonesia (BFIN) has issued medium-term notes (MTN) to raise Rp 225 billion (US$25.2 million) needed to fund its leasing and consumer financing business, the company says.

The bonds were issued in two series: The A series will mature in two years (Rp 25 billion) and the B series will mature in three years (Rp 200 billion), according to a file submitted to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX)
on Thursday.

BFI Finance did not disclose the coupon rate and timeframe for the bond issuance.
